Ekta Mission

A non-profit organization founded by Dr. Pawan Monga, dedicated to healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, community welfare, and humanitarian outreach across India.

Founding Purpose

Mission & Vision

Mission

Service, Unity, Progress

Ekta Mission exists to serve communities across India through programmes that address immediate needs while building the institutional capacity for lasting change. The organization's work is organized around five interconnected programme areas: healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, community welfare, and humanitarian outreach.

The mission is operationalized through a model of sustained, distributed presence — running programmes in many communities simultaneously rather than concentrating resources on a few flagship projects. This approach reflects the organization's conviction that meaningful social change requires consistent engagement rather than episodic intervention.

Vision

An India of Shared Opportunity

Ekta Mission's vision is of an India in which every citizen has access to the basic conditions of a dignified life — healthcare, education, a clean environment, and the security that comes from being part of a caring community. The organization works to make this vision concrete through programmes that demonstrate what is possible when communities are supported by disciplined, well-organized institutions.

The name "Ekta" — meaning unity — reflects the organization's commitment to inclusive service that crosses the lines of community, religion, region, and class. This commitment is not incidental but central to the organization's identity and operating philosophy.

Our Story

Founded in 2010

Ekta Mission was founded by Dr. Pawan Monga in 2010 as the formal institutional expression of more than two decades of community work.

The decision to establish Ekta Mission as a formal non-profit organization came after years of informal community work that had grown beyond what an individual or small group could sustain. By the late 2000s, Dr. Monga's programmes were reaching thousands of people across multiple Delhi neighbourhoods, and the absence of a formal organizational structure was beginning to limit what could be accomplished.

The organization was built deliberately, with careful attention to governance structures, financial controls, and operational protocols. Dr. Monga was particularly concerned to avoid the pitfalls that had befallen many well-intentioned non-profit organizations: mission drift, bureaucratization, and the tendency to become self-perpetuating rather than mission-driven.

From the outset, Ekta Mission committed to a model of distributed presence — running programmes in many communities simultaneously rather than concentrating on a few high-profile projects. This approach meant less visibility for the organization, but it also meant that the work would be more durable and less dependent on the attention cycles of media and donors.

Over the years since its founding, Ekta Mission has grown into one of Delhi's most active non-profit organizations, with programmes that have touched the lives of thousands of people across healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, community welfare, and humanitarian outreach.

"We built Ekta Mission to last. The goal was never to create something that depended on one person's energy — but an institution that could serve communities for decades to come."

How We Work

Operating Principles

Ekta Mission's operations are guided by a set of principles developed over years of community work and refined through the practical experience of running programmes at scale.

Direct Engagement

We believe that effective social work requires direct engagement with the communities served. Our programmes are designed and delivered in close consultation with the people they are intended to benefit, and our team maintains regular presence in the neighbourhoods where we work.

Distributed Presence

Rather than concentrating resources on a few flagship projects, we maintain programmes across many communities simultaneously. This approach is less visible but more durable, and it ensures that our work can continue independent of shifts in media attention or donor priorities.

Operational Discipline

We hold ourselves to high standards of governance, financial management, and operational effectiveness. Detailed records of our activities and finances are maintained and available for review by stakeholders and partners.

Inclusivity

Our programmes are designed to serve people across the lines of community, religion, region, and class. We believe that effective social work requires reaching across the divisions that often fragment civic life.

Long-Term Commitment

We are committed to the long-term work of building healthy communities. Many of our programmes operate on multi-year time horizons, and we measure success in terms of lasting change rather than short-term outputs.

Partnership

We work in partnership with other non-profit organizations, government agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and community groups. Effective social work requires collaboration, and we seek out partners who share our commitment to disciplined, mission-driven service.

Support Ekta Mission

Whether through volunteering, partnership, or donation, there are many ways to support the work of Ekta Mission and contribute to the communities we serve.
